Story

The lifestream is the foundation of existence, with all life originating from the planet and eventually returning to it. However, the Shinra Electric Power Company has been draining this essential life energy, using it as a fuel source known as “mako.”

After an intense battle, ex-SOLDIER Cloud Strife and his friends—Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII—escape Midgar and begin their journey across the planet. This adventure includes traveling by Chocobo through vast, uncharted plains, revisiting familiar locations, and pursuing the fallen hero Sephiroth, with their journey ultimately leading them to the "Forgotten Capital," a place featured in the original FINAL FANTASY VII.

Meanwhile, SOLDIER 1st Class Zack Fair, severely weakened from mako poisoning, struggles through the wastelands near Midgar, carrying his ailing friend. As he teeters between life and death, a dark rift appears in the sky.

The Shinra Resistance Committee, led by the government of Wutai, declares war, while mysterious cloaked figures transport the remains of Jenova, the “Calamity from the Sky,” to unknown destinations. As the planet faces an imminent crisis, the ancient guardians known as Weapons begin to stir within the lifestream.

Amidst this turmoil, Sephiroth's schemes intertwine with the fates of many, setting the stage for destiny to be reshaped once again.
