How to Use and Redeem an RTL+ Gift Card (Germany, EUR): Full Step-by-Step Guide

To use an RTL+ gift card, sign in to your RTL+ account in a browser, open the account or payment settings area, choose the option to redeem a credit card or voucher code ("Guthabenkarte einlösen"), type in the code from your card or email, and confirm. The face value is credited to your RTL+ account in full, and RTL+ then draws your monthly subscription fee from that balance instead of charging a card or PayPal account. If you don't have an RTL+ account yet, create one first — redemption requires either a new or an active account. What an RTL+ gift card actually is

The RTL+ card (issued by RTL interactive GmbH) is prepaid credit for the RTL+ streaming service, not a discount coupon. One point worth understanding before you start: RTL+ codes circulate in two different forms. A prepaid Guthabenkarte code is redeemed inside your account and becomes balance. A promotional Rabattcode (discount code) is entered during checkout in a voucher field beneath the payment method selection and reduces the order total. The cards sold as gift cards are the first type. If a page or a helper article tells you to enter your code at checkout and your code is a gift card, use the in-account route instead.

Step-by-step redemption

1. Open RTL+ in a web browser. Go to the RTL+ website and sign in. Redemption steps are documented for the web interface; whether the option appears identically in every version of the RTL+ mobile and TV apps is not something we could confirm, so the browser is the reliable path.

Subscriptions started inside an app store are generally billed by that store rather than by RTL+ directly, and store-billed plans typically cannot be paid from a provider's own account credit. Where to find the code

Expiry and validity

Retail card terms state a redemption window of roughly 36 months (the remainder of the year of activation plus 36 months), and card sellers repeat the 36-month figure. If your own card or email states different dates, the text supplied with your card takes precedence.

If redemption fails

1. Re-check the code. Paste it again with no leading or trailing spaces. Don't retype long codes manually.
2. Confirm the code type. A discount code entered in the balance field (or vice versa) will simply be rejected. Try the other field before assuming the code is dead.
