About the Game

Set after the movie's events, the game follows Miles Morales as he navigates the challenges of balancing his civilian life with his role as a superhero. Trouble arises when his new home in Harlem is threatened by a conflict between Roxxon Energy Co., a powerful tech corporation, and the villainous Underground gang, led by the enigmatic Tinkerer.

To stay informed about crime and side missions, Miles utilizes an app that alerts him to ongoing events in the city. Equipped with his "spider-sense," Miles can sense incoming attacks, allowing players to dodge and counter effectively. His web-shooters enable him to traverse the city and engage in combat in various ways. Players can jump, cling to surfaces, and even fast travel using the subway system.

However, not all gameplay involves web-slinging. In specific segments, players control Miles in his civilian form, where he lacks his superpowers and gadgets. As he aids Spider-Man, his confidence wavers after previous missteps, leading to doubts when Spider-Man informs him he’ll be away with MJ.

The Nitty Gritty

The game’s third-person perspective enhances its focus on movement and combat, allowing players to chain attacks and utilize the environment creatively to defeat foes while minimizing damage. Side missions have been revamped and are accessed through the in-game phone app.

Miles unlocks various suits, including some inspired by his appearances in other media, as well as unique designs made specifically for the game. These suits enhance his abilities, offering advantages like reduced damage, extended invisibility, or faster Venom Power regeneration.

The visuals are stunning, showcasing breathtaking views from rooftops or while swinging through the city, so players are encouraged to occasionally take a moment to appreciate the scenery. Players can explore a snowy, open-world Manhattan during the holiday season, interacting with characters, gathering gadgets, completing missions, and unlocking new suits.

New Powers Just for Miles

Miles possesses several unique powers and gadgets, including:

Venom Blast: Temporarily incapacitates enemies with bioelectricity and can charge or drain electronics.

Camouflage: Provides temporary invisibility to evade detection.

Mega Venom Blast: Unleashes a massive bioelectric explosion damaging all nearby enemies.

Remote Mines: Can attach to enemies or electrical panels, summoning holographic allies in combat.

Gravity Wells: Trap multiple enemies, making them easier to attack.

All of Miles’ abilities can be upgraded via a skill tree.
