7 Days to Die began as an early access funded horror survival game that successfully reached its target and emerged as a complete, polished product. In this game, players must survive by managing not just enemies and combat, but also basic needs like food, water, and shelter.
About the Game
Premise:
Set in a post-apocalyptic future following a nuclear catastrophe, much of the population has turned into vicious zombies. Survivors struggle to live in the Nevazgane Desert in the American Southwest. "Nevazgane," meaning "killer of monsters" in Apache, sets the stage for the player's harrowing journey. Players start the game naked, alone, and afraid in this harsh desert environment.
Survival Mechanics:
The game's realism is emphasized through the application of physics to buildings and the degradation of tools and weapons. This necessitates constant scavenging for materials like plants, minerals, and tools from both nature and abandoned cities to maintain and advance through the game.
Multiplayer:
Players can choose cooperative play, teaming up with friends or strangers to navigate the hostile landscape and fend off zombie hordes. Alternatively, they can opt for competitive multiplayer, where they must manage resources alone while defending against both zombies and other players.
In-Game Hazards
Starvation/Freezing/Wasting Away:
Survival requires constant vigilance. Players must continuously gather resources, find food, and renew their weaponry to stay alive.
Predators:
Predatory creatures also seek food, including the player, necessitating readiness for combat to survive these encounters.
Zombies:
Zombies pose a relentless threat, necessitating careful planning for excursions to avoid being overwhelmed. They grow stronger and more aggressive over time, challenging the player's defenses.
Seven-Day Zombies:
Every seven days, a massive horde of zombies attacks, testing the player's defenses to their limits. This event is the game's namesake and represents the greatest survival challenge, requiring significant preparation and strategy.
